Mage weapons describe your ability with items that focus one's magical power. It is on the Mage Weapon skill, and not the level of your magic skills, that equipping new magic weapons is dependent.

Large Blades in Ashen Empires encompass all blades larger than what would be considered a large knife. Large Blades contain a very large number of special weapons. Everything from the Symboled Blade of Destruction to the Runewarrior Blade to The Beheader... it's an extremely versatile and well rounded weapon class.

Axes in Ashen Empires can either be of the one handed or two handed variety. They include all weapons which have a shaft with a weighted blade at one end.

Polearms are a melee weapon, but are unique in that they are capable of hitting enemies from two squares away. They have been cited as being excellent PVP weapons for this reason.

Bows are a popular choice of weapon due both to their flexibility and the fact that their accuracy is determined by Dex, making them a powerful weapon choice for people who chose to focus on Dex.

Crossbows are another option for those who prefer ranged weapons. They appear to be less popular than bows, perhaps due to the lower dps in this weapon class's strongest weapons.

Throwing weapons are a third choice for ranged weapon users. The highest DPS weapon in this class is lower than either bows or crossbows.

Small blades are shorter and faster than large blades. One of the biggest advantages to small blades is that, because they are one-handed, shields can be equipped.

[edit] Unarmed Weapons

While it is not intuitive for there to be unarmed weapons, the unarmed fist can be augmented through the use of weapons like knuckle gloves and spiked gauntlets. You can also engage in unarmed combat by simply not equipping a weapon.

Blunt Weapons in Ashen Empires encompass all weapons that work on the principle of "smash the big heavy thing into your enemy." This includes maces, war hammers and other blunt instruments.
