First Aid is a cost effiecient way to heal. So if GHP prices are getting you down, grab some bloodroot and treat those wounds! (not to mention the fact that you gain exp)

Since it is an intelligence based skill, it is probably thought that a mage would find this skill more interesting then a fighter.

Me and a friend (of the same base level) were healing each other with bandages and noticed a difference in power. He had an intelligence of 27 and I only 5

a level 6 (first aid) and 27 int healed for 27 points.

a level 12 (first aid) and 5 int healed for 19 points

So intelligence does help, but i imagine at high first aid levels it wouldn't matter much. So again, if you can't afford pots, buy some bandages and start earning some exp!
