[edit] Blood Fountain - Part A
This is the Blood Fountain quest (also known as Book 5 of the Guild Quests) as documented by Apache on Legends Server, assisted by Jane Fox. March, 2005
Blood Fountain Quest, The Emperium Abbey, (Reward 2,000 exp pool for refreshing the fountain and 100,000 exp for finishing the quest by talking with Holendar.
The quest starts in a lighted, underground, passageway that leads to Holendar's, the Guildmaster, north of Varg. But to get to this beginning, from the city of Varg, go east to the coast and follow it a distance north. Southwest of the cemetery is a squarish valley. In the northwest corner of this valley is a trap door. (Sextant reading - 875,1063) Enter this trap door.
The underground passageway is not a great threat. Once inside, go west and you will come to a large square room. From this room take the north hallway, and follow it all the way up until it turns west, then north, west, south, and west to a smaller room with a ladder in it. Take the ladder up. At this point get out of attack mode so you don't accidently attack anyone in this area. In the large room you will find Malmondrik and some guards. Speak to Malmondrik by clicking on him.
The conversation with Malmondrik:
Malmondrik: Well done! You have proven yourself to be a true leader.
-Continue-
Malmondrik: Now you must venture to Parian and find Holendar. He went there to seek enlightment from a group of monks that traveled from the north. You can find him with these monks.
-Continue-
Now journey to the city of Parian.
As you will note the clues lead you to the city of Parian, however, three sweeps of the town have shown no further clues within the city itself. But, if you think of the human occupied area as the 'Parian Area' then the Emperium Abbey falls within the realm of Parian. You where told that he 'went to seek enlightenment from a group of monks' and the Abbey does have a lot of monks there.
Moving to the Emperium Abbey, none of the brothers will talk to you as they have taken a vow of silence. Click on the blood fountain (Why? Because clicking on mysterious items often gives clues to solving quests.), “you hear brother Gweedo talking to himself.” Hence the next clue in the progression of finishing the quests.
The conversation with Gweedo:
Father Gweedo: Hmmmmm Hmmmmm Hmmmmm
-Continue-
Father Gweedo: You have traveled far from the path since you are here. What be the cause of this? Are you lost, or are you seeking enlightment?
-Options-
- -I wish to join the monastery. -
- -I noticed the fountain flows with blood; I wish to know why. -
- -Yes, I have lost my way. Which way is Parian? -
- -Until we talk again, Brother Gweedo. -
Player: I noticed the fountain flows with blood; I wish to know why.
Father Gweedo: So you have seen the holy fountain pour blood. It has done that since the Minions of Talazar were released upon this land.
-Continue-
Father Gweedo: As more evil is set free, the blood in the fountain becomes thicker and thicker. During the Evil Wars, we knew how the battles were progressing without leaving the monastery. Holendar used to monitor the fountain every day. Brother Timmothy tries to chant the Prayer of Balance for the fountain.
-Options-
- Holendar! I seek this great monk.
- How long has the fountain been flowing red?
- We shall talk later; good day.
Player: Holendar! I seek this great monk.
Father Gweedo: Oh Holendar the Great? He has gone into seclusion to meditate. Only when the fountain flows blue again can you visit Holendar.
-Continue-
Father Gweedo: I must meditate now. Please return if you have any questions.
-Continue-
You are finished talking to Father Gweedo. Now continue to look around for Brother Timmothy.
The conversation with Timmothy:
Brother Timmothy: I just wish… I could remember… OH! I did not hear you enter. What can I do for you?
-Options-
- I was interested in the ritual you were performing.
- Nothing, I have the wrong room, sorry.
Player: I was interested in the ritual you were performing.
Brother Timmothy: I was performing the Ritual of Balance. Once the ceremony is complete, the fountain will run clear, blue water again – only if the evil in the land has not achieved victory.
-Options-
- May I stay and watch you finish?
- Oh, I am eternally sorry, I will leave you alone. -
Player: May I stay and watch you finish?
Brother Timmothy: I wish I could finish. The words were scribed in this book, and strangely, the final page is missing. I do not remember the words, but I will keep trying I must bring the fountain back to life.
-Continue-
Brother Timmothy: If you would help me, I would appreciate it.
-Options-
- I will help you with full honor. Where should I start? -
- I do not have time to help. Good luck with your rituals. -
Player: I will help you with full honor. Where should I start?
Brother Timmothy: There is a monk here who has read every book in our Abbey. If you could find him, it would be a place to start. After you have found the phrase, return to me. Thank you adventurer.
-Continue-
You are finished here. Now you must locate the monk who has read all the books. This is a circus trying to make your way to Nichols, JUST make sure you write down what he says! And it's probably random, so you might not get the same line of garble when you talk to him.
The conversation with Nichols:
Brother Nichols: Ev oang vele nelle bea qoe ban tae
-Continue-
You must find another monk who can help you to make sense of this statement. Also write down James translation!
The conversation with James:
Brother James: Adventurer, I have just finished reading another great novel by the famed author Sir Behanne. What brings you into this humble sanctuary?
-Options-
- I seek shelter from the evil of the land! Can you spare a room?
- I have spoken with others in this haven; Brother Nichols confuses me.
- I am currently reading that same book; it is good so far.
- I have to go now. Good day, Brother James. -
Player: I have spoken with others in this haven; Brother Nichols confuses me.
Brother James: Yes, Brother Nichols speaks a different language. But I have been taking lessons from him, maybe I can help. What do you need to be translated? Mind you, his language can only be translated into a language Brother Timmothy can understand.
-Options-
- av eang elev nelle bae qae ban tae
- ev oang vele nelle bae qoe ban tae
- av eang elev nelle bae qoe ban tae
- ev oeng vele nelle bae qoe ihan tae
Player: Ev oang vele nelle bae qoe ban tae.
Brother James: Let me think, the phrase is roughly translated…
Brother James: Anta boert tantha irol oawt tamdbe baneh.
-Continue-
Brother James: I must get back to reading now. Good day.
-Continue-
Returning now to Brother Timmothy with the phrase.
Brother Timmothy:
Hmmmmmmmm, Hmmmmmmmm, Hmmmmmmmm
Hmmmmmmmm, Hmmmmmmmm, Hmmmmmmmm
Let us waste no time starting the ritual…
Hmmmmmmmm, Hmmmmmmmm, Hmmmmmmmm

You see the water has turned blue!
EXP: 2000
Suddenly you are standing before Brother Holendar.
The conversation with Holendar:
Brother Holendar: I have never seen thee before, adventurer. If thou hast found me, there can be only one thing you seek….
-Continue-
Brother Holendar: Thou hast proven thyself worthy of leadership. For this, I shall allow thee to create a guild of thine own. Do not abuse the power I have granted thee, for it can be taken away as fast as I give it to thee.
-Continue-
Brother Holendar: We have only one small order of business left.
-Continue-
Brother Holendar: The monastery needs a new roof, but the wood must be brought in from Krythan Island, and the special rafters from Silvest. We require a small donation to this place of worship.
-Continue-
Brother Holendar: Place in my hand thy very charitable donation of 250,000 gold, and I shall give thee a deed to start a guild.
-Continue-
At this point, you are finished here. You may either drop the money on Brother Holendar and he will bestow upon you a deed for your new guild.
or you may
Pause, and click on Brother Holendar again. You will still get the experience points and can return later with the money.
Brother Holendar: I pray it does not rain anytime soon. Or substantial number of Books will be ruined if our roof is not replaced.
-Continue-
Brother Holendar: Dost thou wish to return to the Abbey?
-Options-
- Yes, please.
- No, thank you.
Player: Yes, please.
EXP: 100,000
You have now completed ALL of the Guild Quests and have a total of 262,000 exp. Have fun adventurer!

“Poof” you are in front of Brother Holendar. Before speaking to him you must leave your current guild, (otherwise Holendar will say “you are not in need of the gifts I offer”), then drop the 250K gold pieces on him.
The conversation with Holendar:
Holendar: Thou are very generous for thy contribution to our roof repair. If only others would help also, the roof would be done. Thank thee, valiant adventurer. Now go into the world and gather the supporters of thy cause!
-Continue-
Now click back on Holendar.
Holendar: Thou dost have a guild already; go forth into the land and seek followers.
-Continue-
Holendar: Dost thou wish to return to the Abbey?
-Options-
- Yes, please.
- No, thank you.
Player: Yes, please.
Now press the “g” button and tailor make your new guild with your guild name and initials.
I'm adding this following paragraph as within 1 week I've heard 3 folks say they messed up this part, and to make corrections will cost 'another' 250,000 gold.
When you press the "g" button you will see "Your" Guild List with <some kind of guild name> at the top and you listed as the sole member. LEFT CLICK on the "white" Guild Name and a box pops opens with a field to type YOUR chosen guild name IN FULL. It says: Enter the name of your Guild. Please choose a name carefully, you CANNOT rename your guild. If you have not decided on a name, press Cancel.
Below this box then are the buttons 'Done' and 'Cancel'.
Once you do this, then a second box pops up asking for your guild's TAG letters. Fill those in the field and click on the 'Done' button. You'll then be transported back outside to the center courtyard where the blood fountain is. You should then be able to see your tag on your paper doll. If others can't see your tag, try walking out of their screen and then return.
