Here are some things to consider for Mapping Escorts:
-
In addition to defending my life at all times, someone needs to keep clear the
pathway in front of me as much as possible.
-
There are two walls to every passage. We must go through every passage in
the cave at least twice.
-
Be aware that sometimes I must retreat along the wall to fix a
mistake.
-
After finishing a cave room's outer walls, I search for inside walls, posts,
large rocks, and tombstones.
-
Inside buildings mapping is simpler. I only go to the corners, doors, and
all objects.
-
While exploring around me, you may find a secret passage or something important
(like magic squares, crystal balls, etc.) Tell Saveena if she is with us,
otherwise step in front of me and tell me.
-
If you die, it can mean the end of the mapping session. Don't
bring anything you cannot afford to loose and do not try to return alone
to retrieve your things. Hopefully we can continue the mission
without you. Other participating guilds may form their own policy
about this point.
-
If you are disconnected (DC), we may wait up to 8 minutes for your return, after
that we must move on. You will have to find your own way unless we can
safely assist you.
-
If I should die, your only choice is to return to the entrance and get
me. My sextant is the only important thing I carry, and we are all
carrying one right? (Hopefully someone in the
remaining group will know how to find the entrance.)
-
It would help if someone in the group casts nourish. Its better if I don't have
to carry anything.
-
Everyone should have at least 3 NEW torches (elf sight does not always work),
and you may have to give away one.
-
Unnecessary running around stirs up monsters and can only harm the
mission.
-
Don't get lost. It is usually impossible to have a meeting place.
Even if everyone has sextants (which I recommend), it can be very
difficult to find someone who is lost until the cave is completely
mapped.
-
If you get a drop from a monster, it is yours but it is hardly the time to show
and tell. All too many times I have seen people die while admiring their
loot.
